Terms of Service
Last updated: August 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Escribir application and the escribir.app website, both published by Intrusive Memory Productions (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using Escribir, you agree to these Terms.
License to Use the App
Subject to these Terms, Intrusive Memory Productions grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Escribir on Apple devices you own or control, solely for your personal or professional work. You may not redistribute, sublicense, sell, or reverse-engineer the app or its bundled assets.
Escribir bundles open-source components — including libgit2, libssh2, and OpenSSL — that are distributed under their respective open-source licenses. Those licenses are included in the app’s acknowledgements and govern your use of those components.
Your Content
In short: your documents are yours. Everything you write or edit in Escribir — Markdown, Fountain screenplays, plain text, and anything else — belongs to you. Intrusive Memory Productions claims no rights to your documents.
Because your documents are stored only on your device and in locations you choose, Intrusive Memory Productions never receives, stores, or has access to them. You are solely responsible for how you use, share, or publish the content you create with Escribir.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Escribir to:
- Violate applicable law or infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties.
- Access repositories, accounts, or systems you are not authorized to access.
- Attempt to circumvent any technical protection measures in the app.
Intrusive Memory Productions reserves the right to terminate your license if you violate these restrictions.
Git Integration and Third-Party Services
Escribir’s git features connect directly from your device to the git hosts you configure (for example, GitHub). Your use of those services through Escribir is governed by their own terms — for GitHub, the GitHub Terms of Service. You are responsible for the credentials you use, for the repositories you clone or push to, and for complying with the terms of any git host you connect to. Intrusive Memory Productions is not a party to your relationship with those services and is not responsible for their availability or conduct.
Price
Escribir is free. There are no in-app purchases, subscriptions, or paid tiers. If paid features are ever introduced, they will be processed through the Apple App Store and governed by Apple’s media services terms and your App Store account settings; Intrusive Memory Productions does not process payment information directly.
No Warranty
Escribir is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Intrusive Memory Productions does not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, and — although byte-for-byte fidelity of your documents is a design goal — you are responsible for maintaining backups of your own files and repositories.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Intrusive Memory Productions shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of Escribir — including loss of data, documents, or repository contents — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Escribir shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction where Intrusive Memory Productions is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Governing law jurisdiction — TBD at launch.] Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
Changes to These Terms
Intrusive Memory Productions may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (for example, via an in-app notice or an update to the App Store listing).
